Along with making new connections, the PaCERs had the opportunity to learn about working in the field and see the processes that they had been reading about.

While they were in Tucson, the PaCERs experienced everything from warehouse work, such as the process of kind, count, and condition , to visiting a demilitarization location, to seeing an environmental pick up.

David Grant, an Examiner and Identifier in Tucson provided an overview of the DEMIL side of the site, complete with a tour of the Airplane Boneyard, the section of Davis Monthan Air Force Base reserved for the storage of old military planes.

On the environmental side, Phillip “Kyle” Groll, the Environmental Protection Specialist in Tucson, was thorough and clear in his instruction, taking the PaCERs through each step of a pick up from start to finish, and having them join him for a pick up at Luke Air Force Base over the course of the week.

Lastly, but certainly not least James Purser, a Material Examiner and Identifier in Tucson, instructed the PaCERs on the KCC and induction of DEMIL required property.

The PaCERs would extended their thanks to everyone in Tucson who helped them and taught them over the course of the week and appreciate the countless people who offered their knowledge and experience to make the agency better as a whole.

The group indicated that the trip to Tucson was not only informative for them, but also provided a great bonding experience and helped bring everything they’ve been learning about the agency together.

They look forward to seeing everyone in Tucson again during their career.
