DLA employees helping the local homeless, one plastic bag at a time
The colorful mat being held by, from left, Rhonda Boyd, Gwen Beauford and Kathy Anderson, demand supply chain analysts, who all work within the Research, Review and Analysis Division, Business Process Support Directorate, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, Richmond, Virginia, was made from recycled plastic shopping bags. The three, along with other members of their directorate, donated roughly 700 bags to The First African Baptist Church in Chesterfield, Virginia, whose members then crocheted them into multi-purpose sleeping mats donated to the area homeless area as part of the Bags-to-Mats Program.
