DLA Disposition Services Southeast Region Receives Insightful Visits from Leadership

By Jason Shamberger DLA Disposition Services

DLA Disposition Services South East Region recently welcomed leadership on a visit, offering valuable insights and commendations for the team's unwavering dedication and resilience during ongoing operational transitions and challenges.

Army Colonel Andre Toussaint, along with Operations Directorate team members Bernie Ponce and Dave Ross, embarked on a visit to Jacksonville, Florida. The agenda included leadership engagements, recognition of frontline heroes, discussions regarding the Warehouse Management System transition feedback, and updates of ongoing construction projects.

During the visit, the team received direct feedback on the challenges encountered during the WMS transition. The issues ranged from an increase in steps and multiple screens, to document uploading difficulties and connectivity issues. Headquarters acknowledged these hurdles, assuring the team that they are navigating the learning curve alongside them and committed to integrating the feedback into revised Standard Operating Procedures.

Colonel Toussaint underscored the significance of leadership pillars – training, maintenance, property accountability, individual discipline, and communication. Furthermore, he emphasized the need to cultivate effective relationships founded on trust, transparency, teamwork, and a total approach.

Amidst witnessing ongoing construction efforts during the site tour, gratitude was expressed for the team's steadfast commitment and dedication during the challenging phases of WMS migration and renovation projects.

During discussions, Colonel Toussaint acknowledged the challenges, stating, "WMS is a new system for Headquarters as well; we are learning alongside with you."

The subsequent visit to Eglin Air Force Base echoed similar sentiments. Similar to the Jacksonville visit, feedback on the WMS migration highlighted the learning curve and challenges faced. Emphasis was placed on the need to adapt to the system's complexities and the importance of patience during this phase.

The leadership discussions once again covered the five pillars of leadership. Additionally, the visit provided insights into the construction progress, acknowledging the team's dedication despite external delays caused by permit issues.

Becky Watson, Director of DSD South East Region, expressed her appreciation of Colonel Toussaint's observations about Eglin's infrastructure and the team's resilience in embracing the WMS migration. The visit concluded with a call to continue commendable work amidst ongoing changes.

"Eglin team members have seemed to embrace the WMS migration and being patient in learning the system," Toussaint said.

The insightful visits from esteemed leadership members have made a lasting impact on DLA Disposition Services Southeast Region. The commendations, feedback, and encouragement stand as a testament to the team's commitment and dedication in ensuring seamless operations.
