By Diana Dawa DLA Distribution Public Affairs

Each year, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, with the assistance of the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council, recognizes individuals, groups, and organizations that have made a significant contribution to Pennsylvania’s Emergency Medical System.

According to Henry C. Hoffman Jr., fire chief, DLA Installation Management Operations Susquehanna, Rescue 69 was recognized and honored based on the strength of their nomination, and their contributions made to Pennsylvania’s Emergency Medical System.

“The department was nominated for the quality rescue services that are provided to the New Cumberland, Pa. installation and surrounding local area,” said Hoffman.

In order to be eligible, a rescue service must demonstrate their contribution to the development and growth of the provision of quality rescue services within their community.

Additionally, a rescue service must provide proof of the following:

• Participates in community oriented activities.
• Demonstrates a consistent pattern of rapid response times and adequate staffing levels.
• Cooperates with surrounding public safety organizations.
• Emphasizes personnel training, continuing education, and professional development.
• Recognizes the importance of medically-directed rescue operations.

Rescue 69 was presented their award at the Pa. State EMS Conference, September 6, 2018.
