Contract Administration Division holds annual recognition ceremony, celebrates successes

By DLA Aviation Public Affairs Office

Robert Baker, division chief, Contract Administration, Supplier Operations Commodities Directorate, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, hosted his annual end of fiscal year Town Hall Nov. 7 to celebrate employees’ accomplishments this past fiscal 2018.

Charlie Lilli, DLA Aviation deputy commander, opened the celebration by presenting the Susan E. Perkins Contract Administrator of the Quarter Award to Lee Skimin and Lesley McNew. Both Skimin and McNew are contract administrators in Baker’s division.

Baker highlighted Skimin’s accomplishments during the Town Hall saying he embodies all the traits of how a post award administrator should be.  “He never turns away someone looking for help and always makes time for his teammates,” said Baker.

McNew’s award justification highlighted several accomplishments including that she maintained a 1.2 percent delinquency rate with no increases above five percent for the past four months

“This achievement speaks volumes about her resourcefulness,” said Baker. “Her attention to detail, reliability and thoroughness to assigned projects, workload, and mission accomplishment or to assist a co-worker is impressive.”

Following Lilli, Baker presented Leaders of the Quarter Awards to division supervisors: Zina Farris, Shonda Lovett-Liggans, Cano Sims, Leonyce Moses and Jessica Pankey-Ford.  He also recognized other division employees as Most Valuable Players - Alex Townes, Jo Anne Brisbon and Wendy Epps-Layne and Unsung Heroes - Jason Perry, Cindy Grant, Elaine Dabney, Yvonne Richardson, Ashley Hill, and Bill Westerman.

“Our order volume is at an all-time high for DLA Aviation. We are now averaging more than 150,000 open orders/contracts per month - up 32 percent over the past two years,” said Baker. “The fact that the contract administration workforce continues to make positive impacts on improving material availability and reducing backorders is a testament to their hard work and dedication to warfighter support.”

In support of the division’s end of fiscal 2018 Bucket Challenge, Baker presented awards to the three winning teams lead by branch supervisors: Shonda Lovett-Liggans, Cano Sims and Leonyce Moses.

“The Bucket Challenge was our final push to expedite material, resolve invoicing issues and clear delinquent contracts to reduce backorders,” he said. “In total, this fiscal 2018 initiative resolved more than 38,000 backorder lines for DLA Aviation.”

Following the formal recognition, division employees celebrated with a Tailgate Party featuring food and a corn hole competition.
