PTSD is a mental health condition that some people develop after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event, such as combat, a natural disaster, a car accident or sexual assault.

“It’s normal to have upsetting memories, feel on edge or have trouble sleeping after a traumatic event,” Henderson said. “If it’s been longer than a few months and you’re still having symptoms, you may have PTSD.”

Henderson noted that for some people PTSD symptoms may start later on or come and go over time.

During the seminar, he explained what PTSD is, how to deal with it and how to help others.

The workshop was held two days prior to PTSD Awareness Day.

For associates who missed the seminar and are interested in learning more about PTSD, they can view the slideshow presentation online and contact Henderson by email or calling 614-692-2000.
