FORT BELVOIR, Va. –
The Defense Logistics Agency’s 2020 Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year is the star of the latest edition of The Rap talk show.
Army Sgt. 1st Class Ryan Penaflor is the transportation noncommissioned officer in charge at DLA Troop Support Europe & Africa in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The 13-year soldier and Guam native tells viewers about the challenges he faces tracking rations for troops in the Middle East.
“The stop movements, the border closures and moving our containers into the country were probably the biggest challenges there that we’ve had,” he says of supplying troops during the pandemic.
Penaflor explains how his own deployments to Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan motivate him to support fellow troops. He also shares a secret item that’s been with him on those deployments and gives a surprise musical performance.
