Name: Nancy Mize

Organization: DLA Aviation at Oklahoma City

Years of Service: 4.5 years

What is your job title, and what do you do, specifically? I’m a material handler, specifically a forklift driver. In this capacity, I work as part of a team, to perform the tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing and distribution of materials, parts and supplies.

What do you like most about your job? The things I like most about my job is supporting the warfighter. I start my workday striving to provide excellent support, from filling orders to getting them delivered to the customer. I also like working alongside my co-workers accomplishing all tasks and daily interactions with our customers.

What is your fondest memory of working for DLA Aviation? I came to DLA Aviation in 2020 after working at DLA Distribution here on Tinker Air Force Base for two years. I will say this. The day I started working at DLA Aviation was awesome. I had a great supervisor at that time and great teammates that made me feel very welcomed.

What aspect(s) of your current job gives you the most personal satisfaction and why? I have enjoyed training some of my new co-workers and providing world-class support to our customers.

If you could speak directly to the warfighters you support, what would you tell them? I would simply tell them thank you for your sacrifice, service, and dedication to our nation.

What was your first job? My first job came my senior year in high school when I worked as a dishwasher at a fast-food restaurant in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

What’s your biggest pet peeve? My biggest pet peeve is when people lack initiative. In my opinion, you should always give your all in everything you do.

What are some of your passions outside of work? I love gardening, especially growing flowers and vegetables and fresh herbs. Since Oklahoma can have some crazy weather, not everything that I try to grow survives, but I still give it one heck of a try.

If you could pick a personal motto, what would it be? My personal motto would be “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

Who is the most influential person in your life, past or present? The most influential person in my life would definitely be my dad. He inspired me to do my best and work my hardest in all I do.
