‘Tis the season for tree lightings, donating toys and office decorating contests

By Leon Moore DLA Aviation Public Affairs Office

The festive spirit is alive and well throughout Defense Logistics Agency Aviation.

Teams of employees at DLA Aviation Jacksonville kicked off the holiday season Dec. 8, by donating more than 420 toys they collected during the Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign.

Fast forward to Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Sean Tyler flipping the giant switch during the annual Tree Lighting ceremony Dec. 12. The event was held in the first-floor dining area of the DLA Aviation Operations Center (Bldg. 46) on Defense Supply Center Richmond. The event, sponsored by the Civilian Welfare Fund and Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, featured free snacks, beverages, desserts and a disc jockey spinning holiday tunes.

Finally, employees within the Planning Directorate in Richmond showed their holiday spirit by challenging each other to friendly holiday decorating and gingerbread house making contests. Colorful wreaths, Christmas trees, presents, and fireplaces transformed their workspaces into winter wonderlands. Aviation Deputy Commander Charlie Lilli judged the decorating competition, while Planning Director Kent Ennis selected the winner for the best gingerbread house.
