NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Army units throughout Europe are receiving Tyvek protective suits to be worn by employees disinfecting facilities and equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support and DLA Distribution Europe arranged shipment of 14 pallets of Tyvek suits to DLA Distribution Europe’s Theater Consolidation and Shipping Point in Germersheim, Germany. The suits will be delivered by commercial trucks to troops in Italy, Germany, Belgium, Romania and Poland May 8-29.
“It is very rewarding to be the last stop in the supply chain, interacting, in most cases, directly with the customer. This has never been more evident than right now as we provide mission-critical supplies and personal protective equipment in direct support of the COVID-19 response,” said DDDE Commander Army Lt. Col. Jonathan S. Ackiss.
Cleaning and disinfecting is an important part of reopening public spaces, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Other supplies provided by DDDE include food and Red Cross comfort packs to boost warfighter morale.
