Lawrence then met with Stacy Umstead, deputy chief of staff and Eugene Summers, strategic planner, to tour DLA Distribution Headquarters.

In addition to touring facilities at DLA Distribution headquarters, Lawrence made a special stop at DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, joining DDSP Commander, Army Col. Trent Conner, to specifically recognize eight DDSP employees for their incredible commitment and adaptability as they provide expert level distribution support during the COVID-19 pandemic response.

DDSP employees James Earp, Christopher Orth, Anthony Maro, Rene Vinette, Jay Lightner, Eric Cady, Diana Frank and Greg Hahn received commander’s coins from Lawrence for their outstanding performance.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the team has been instrumental in the process design and execution of multiple emergent non-standard missions. Their initiative and rapid process execution is critical to the success of a multi-agency mission to respond to the epidemic in an evolving landscape.

Their work synchronized pandemic response efforts across government and commercial agencies aiding in the shipment of over 266,300 doses of vaccine and over 2,600 ancillary kits as of April 5.

Despite several logistical and information technology related challenges, the commitment shown by this team has been key in support to the warfighter and the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
