Richmond, Va. –
Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. David Sanford spoke on a panel focusing on the “Future of Logistics” during the 15th annual Tinker and the Primes conference on Aug. 10.
The conference theme, “Leveraging Partnerships to Accelerate Change,” was held Aug. 10-12 at the Reed Conference Center, Midwest City, Oklahoma. Conference attendees participated in a variety of briefings and panel discussions over the three-day conference ranging from the needs of prime contractors and the Defense Department to learning how to secure government contracts as a small business.
Sanford discussed DLA’s pursuits in additive manufacturing and artificial intelligence/machine learning, diving into how new technology is allowing industry to increase speed and adaptability in supporting the warfighter.
“This conference truly displays DLA’s, the services’ and this state’s commitment to excellence in supporting our men and women on the front lines,” he said.
Other panel participants included with Leigh Method, deputy assistant secretary of defense for logistics; Geoffrey Camp, state director aerospace and defense for Oklahoma; and Dennis D’Angelo, executive director, Air Force Sustainment Center.
