NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution launched a re-warehousing dashboard application within the agency’s Qlik® software in October. The application provides visibility to re-warehousing stow performance and tools to identify storage efficiencies at the agency’s 24 global distribution centers.
The application provides near real time data for distribution center leadership to problem solve, make decisions faster and provides data allowing the opportunity for improved storage performance. DLA Distribution can gain operational efficiencies by centralizing materials and collocating fast-moving inventory, while also avoiding construction costs for new storage buildings and contract costs. In addition, the dashboard application displays site-specific data on re-warehousing pick to stow performance — month-to-date and historical — which addresses the need for timely stow of material to maintain audit readiness.
The application is updated weekly and includes the automation of site-specific tools, including re-warehousing triangle and combine reports, that provide distribution centers with targets of opportunity to improve storage density and material consolidation. This aspect of the application is most beneficial to storage managers at each site. The application also generates a report that shows the impact of completed re-warehousing actions on storage density over time.
