SAN JOAQUIN, California –
Air Force Maj. Patrick Carpizo has been awarded the Global Distribution Excellence: Field Grade Officer of the Year award for his contributions as DLA Distribution San Joaquin’s Bin Distribution Division operations officer.
“Major Carpizo epitomizes those rare qualities most sought in today’s military professional: integrity, service, commitment and a driven mindset to excel,” said DLA Distribution San Joaquin commander Marine Col. Keith Reventlow.
In his position, Carpizo led nearly 200 personnel within DLA Distribution San Joaquin’s largest division to select, store, package and distribute over 780,000 materiel receipt orders to U.S. Pacific Command and Department of Defense customers west of the Mississippi River.
According to Reventlow, Carpizo is a dynamic field grade officer, whose performance has been indispensable in executing, planning, and analyzing warehousing capabilities and resources valued at over $8 billion among five facilities within the organization. He also was instrumental in driving cultural changes by executing standard processes, developing people, optimizing resources, and engaging customers, directives outlined in San Joaquin’s fiscal year 2014 Operating Plan.
Reventlow says Carpizo’s track record led him to select Carpizo as the command’s audit readiness and quality assurance evaluator. In this position, Carpizo drove the distribution center’s financial preparation and controls for nearly $7 billion in inventory, ensuring all business cycles were audit ready.
“Major Carpizo navigated uncharted waters with his audit readiness efforts, and was a true asset in advancing our stewardship excellence. He really provides all-around exceptional leadership,” said Reventlow.
Off-duty, Carpizo is involved in his community, coaching a nine-person youth basketball team, and has devoted more than eight hours to Sacramento Adopt-a-Park, cleaning and maintaining local parks.
