OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma –
Tom Fagan, a material examiner identifier supervisor with Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Oklahoma City, Okla., has been named Employee of the Quarter for the third quarter of fiscal year 2015.
Assigned to the Warehouse Storage Operation Branch, Fagan is responsible for an over 42,000 square-foot hazardous material and cold storage warehouse comprised of 11 storerooms with over 102,000 assets valued in excess of $5 million, as well as six employees.
Attention to detail and work ethic have allowed Fagan to implement a world-class warehousing operation while developing the workable skills necessary to streamline the processes after the previous supervisor stepped down.
“Tom’s exceptional ability to communicate in a cross-agency environment makes him a valuable asset,” said Robert Nooner, chief of special storage, DLA Distribution Oklahoma City.
Fagan’s knowledge of prioritization and optimization significantly contributed to a warehouse system restructure that yielded results of increased velocity, faster material turn rates, less order fill times and reduced travel time. He has been instrumental in placing the fast moving items in the front and closest to the door, increasing warehouse efficiency by 20 percent.
“The customers ask us to retain him in this position, peers seek to emulate his behavior and management trusts his advice and management skills,” said Nooner.
Additionally, Fagan’s professionalism was illustrated during his oversight and implementation of a structured system to handling expired shelf-life, frustrated material and a laundry list of items in excess of 200 lines needed by the customer. This process decreased the amount of time it takes to make the material available to the warfighter.
