Exit Interview with Col. Christopher Tooman, Land and Maritime Chief of Staff

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime will complete a changeover this month in its Chief of Staff position as U.S. Air Force Col. Christopher Tooman transitions to his next command challenge. After a year at the Central Ohio logistics center, Tooman took time last week to reflect on the experiences he’ll take with him and what made his latest assignment “a blast.”

DLA COVID-19 Task Force member wins Navy League logistics award

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Hugh Wilson is the winner of the Navy League’s Admiral Ben Moreell Award for Logistics Competence for his work with the Defense Logistics Agency’s COVID-19 Task Force. He will receive the award during the Navy League’s National Convention June 8-12 in Orlando, Florida. He is a joint logistics planner in DLA’s Agency Synchronization and Operations Center.

Farmers market returns to DLA

The weekly farmers market is making a comeback at the Defense Logistics Agency. Starting June 8, the market will be held every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the front doors of the Headquarters Complex. The last farmers market for the season will be Oct. 19.

May 15-21 is National Police Week, an annual observance created in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy to recognize law enforcement officers’ service and sacrifice. The Defense Logistics Agency Police Force remained on duty throughout the pandemic and remain prepared as employees reenter the workplace.

Tyler selected as new DLA Aviation Commander

Air Force Brig. Gen. Sean Tyler has been selected to serve as the next Defense Logistics Agency Aviation commander at Richmond, Virginia. He will replace Air Force Brig. Gen. David Sanford, whose next assignment will be director of logistics, engineering and force protection for Headquarters Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
