RICHMOND, Va –
The Lotts Conference Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, recently came alive with a lively performance by the Latin Ballet of Virginia. The colorfully dressed dancers were part of a program Sept. 29 celebrating Hispanic American Heritage Month, which runs Sept. 15 through Oct. 15.
The theme for the month is Energizing Our Nation’s Diversity. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, roughly 54 million Hispanics live in the United States, representing approximately 17 percent of the U.S. total population, making people of Hispanic origin the nation's largest ethnic or race minority.
The guest speaker was Michel Zajur, founder of the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “It’s very nice to have these types of events so people can learn about different cultures and understand more about them. I do think it’s very important especially in the world we live in. We live in a global society,” said Zajur
