What the holidays mean to me: Margaret "Rose" Waller

DLA Aviation Public Affairs

During the month of December, DLA Aviation Public Affairs will be running a special series of stories titled “What the holidays mean to me.” The purpose is to spotlight members of the DLA Aviation workforce during the holidays.

Name: Margaret "Rose" Waller

Organization: DLA Aviation at Warner Robins, Georgia

What is your job title, and what do you do, specifically? I’m a customer support specialist. I help provide support to the Air Force C-130 Hercules production depot maintenance line. I monitor parts status and urgency of assets needed for maintenance. I also prepare and submit emergency buy packages, breach of stock, lateral support and mission impaired capability awaiting parts [requests] in support of the warfighter.

What do the holidays mean to you? Holidays mean love to me. This is the time of year we show love for family and friends and to celebrate the birth of Jesus one to another.

What are your fondest holiday memories? I come from a military family, so my fondest memories were when each of my four siblings and myself took leave and went home for Christmas with our families. It was like a huge slumber party.

What is your favorite holiday tradition? Christmas morning bingo. We stayed in our pajamas all morning, cooked a lot of food and played bingo.

Name your favorite holiday song and why it’s your favorite. My favorite holiday song is Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is You.” The words tell it all. I don’t want a lot for Christmas. I just want you. Since we were all military, we just wanted to be together at this festive time of year.
