Small Business team recognized at commander’s town hall

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Office of Small Business Programs was recognized March 18 during a town hall at the Defense Supply Center Columbus’ Operations Center Auditorium. The office received DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams’ Strategic Goals Award for their efforts in helping the Agency to exceed its small business goals for Fiscal Year 2018.

Woman of the Year nominees announced

The Defense Supply Center Columbus has announced the federal and military nominees for the Defense Federal Community’s 2019 Woman of the Year Award. Winners will be named during the Women’s Summit March 27 at the installation’s Armed Forces Reserve Building. The award ceremony will occur during the luncheon scheduled to begin at 11:30.

Skills to last a lifetime, theme of mentoring graduation ceremony

ceremony that culminated nine months of dedication and work in the Level II Mentoring Program March 13 at the Defense Supply Center Columbus Operations Center Auditorium. Level II is a voluntary, formal mentoring program for associates at the general salary grades 9 through 12.

Puget Sound assists small businesses in discovering opportunities to work with DLA

Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility plays an important part in the Defense Logistics Agency Maritime family by serving as the primary advocate for PSNS and IMF supply support in Washington. As part of their outreach efforts, DLA Maritime - Puget Sound was one of 119 vendor booths at the Alliance Northwest Small Business Conference in Puyallup, Washington, March 7.

From poverty to public service: Franklin County commissioner delivers keynote address at Black History Month program

Franklin County Commissioner Kevin Boyce delivered the keynote address at the Defense Supply Center Columbus’ African American and Black History Month celebration Feb. 27. Boyce became the county’s first black commissioner when he was sworn into office in 2017. In a robust presentation to the military and civilian audience, Boyce reflected on the impact of African Americans throughout American history and shared personal stories from his own life.

DSCC certified as a Tree City USA

DSCC was certified as a Tree City USA Feb. 19. The Tree City USA program is a program sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service and state forestry that provides the framework necessary for communities to manage and expand their urban forest.
