DLA Indo-Pacific employee receives NDTA award

By DLA Public Affairs

Bob Sherrill of Defense Logistics Agency Indo-Pacific was awarded the Joseph Torsani Award for Lifetime Service and Achievement from the National Defense Transportation Association in October.

Sherrill serves as a warfighter support representative and Alaskan Command liaison officer at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, and is a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel.

The award, NDTA’s highest, was presented Oct. 20 during the NDTA fall meeting in Washington D.C. by retired Navy Vice Admiral Andy Brown, NDTA president and chief executive officer, and John Dietrich, chair of the NDTA board of directors.

Brown said Sherrill, who managed NDTA chapters in Florida, Alaska and Japan, helped the association accomplish its mission of ensuring a strong national defense. Sherrill thanked those who partnered with him in each of the NDTA locations he represented.

According to the award citation, “Sherrill’s leadership and expertise, applied through numerous logistics and transportation positions held as a U.S. Air Force officer and as a government civilian with U.S. Central Command and DLA, have strengthened partnerships, and increased and improved our national readiness. His leadership resulted in winning several national and international awards for the NDTA Chapter of the Year and he was recognized individually for winning three NDTA Distinguished Service Awards.”
