FORT BELVOIR, Virginia –
The DLA Distribution Red River, Texas, Equal Employment Office team was awarded the Outstanding Achievement in EEO award at the 48th annual employee recognition ceremony Dec. 10.
DLA director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch, along with Distribution’s commander Army Brig. Gen. Richard Dix, was on hand to present the award.
The Red River EEO team annually trains the entire staff of over 600 employees and supervisors on all aspects of the EEO program. The team
developed and conducted supervisor roundtable training with subjects related to conflict resolution, dignity and respect and supervisor/employee expectations.
During the calendar year 2015, the Red River EEO team, with the assistance of a four-person volunteer committee, conducted five special observances with approximately 650 team members attending the events. The programs included a Martin Luther King educational piece; an African American Black History Month Choir; five guest speakers for Women’s History Month; a video from the National Holocaust Museum: “A Survivors Story,” and an Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month hula/trivia contest.
“Our EEO program is one of the most proactive programs
throughout DLA. We have at a minimum one event a month and get great
participation,” explained DLA Distribution Red River commander Army Lt. Col.
Anthony Stoeger.
DLA Distribution Red River also participated at the Wounded
Warrior and Veteran Expo held in March at the Texarkana College. A total of 36
colleges and employers assisted wounded warriors, veterans and family members
with potential job and college applications.
Additionally, the Red River EEO team initiated monthly brown
bag lunches with employees and supervisors enabling the discussion of concerns.
Suggestion boxes have been set up throughout the organization for employees to
provide feedback and recommendations. The boxes are checked regularly and the
concerns are addressed.
“It is truly phenomenal what the team plans, coordinates and
executes on a monthly basis,” said Stoeger. “The team is a great asset to this
organization and I am grateful they were recognized for all of their hard
work.”
