DLA Strategic Plan amended, available online

By DLA Public Affairs

The Defense Logistics Agency Strategic Plan has been amended to maintain relevancy and continuity of the existing plan.

Major changes include the addition of three objectives under the Warfighter Support line of effort and one under Always Accountable, as well as two new categories: Cross-Cutting Efforts and Critical Capabilities.

Warfighter First, in which the agency makes its first priority strengthening service readiness and lethality, now emphasizes goals pertaining to the space enterprise, support to Department of Defense reform initiatives and demand projections.

“Working collaboratively with our service, Whole of Government and industry partners, we will improve projections and reduce demand planning errors to increase service readiness and the buying power for DoD and supported federal agencies,” the amended plan states.

Reducing rates and providing greater transparency to military and WoG partners is the new objective under Always Accountable. It includes improving alignment of DLA financial procurement and operations processes to better capture the total cost of goods and services.

The new focus on Cross-Cutting Efforts poses three objectives: making auditability every employee’s responsibility, gaining efficiencies and maximizing savings through DoD reforms, and strengthening operational resiliency through supply chain security.

Critical Capabilities includes People and Culture objectives as well as Enterprise Enablers, which strengthens the focus on innovation, technology, data management and cybersecurity, four critical capabilities that are essential to the DLA workforce accomplishing strategic and operational objectives.

“We will continue to focus on all four as enablers to help drive the constant transformation required to meet rapidly shifting warfighter needs. With innovation, our technology stays fresh and allows us to grow and exploit our data,” according to the plan.
