109th Airlift Wing commences annual support for National Science Foundation support in Antarctica
An LC-130 assigned to the New York Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing leaves Stratton Air National Guard Base on Sept. 16 en route to McMurdo Sound, Antarctica. The 109th Airlift Wing flies the only ski-equipped planes in the U.S. military which can land on snow and ice.
