DLA orders protective equipment for US nursing homes
: Congressman Andy Harris visits the Federal Resources warehouse while workers pack personal protective equipment to be delivered to nursing homes May 7, 2020 in Stevensville, Maryland. The Defense Logistics Agency ordered $134 million of personal protective equipment which will be shipped to approximately 15,000 nursing homes around the U.S. in May and June. The equipment will provide medical staff members with 14-days’ worth of protective eyewear, medical gowns, masks and nitrite gloves. Under the direction of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, FEMA partnered with Federal Resources to coordinate the first of two shipments totaling a 14-day supply of PPE to more than 15,000 nursing homes across the Nation.
