Helping the less fortunate on Valentine’s Day

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

The leadership team at DLA Distribution San Joaquin, California put the less fortunate before themselves and donated items to the women and children at the Women’s Center, Youth and Family Services for Valentine’s Day. The team’s donations provided flowers to the mothers and small gifts to include coloring books, crayons, stickers, activity books, cards and games to the children.

The Civilian Welfare Fund council hosted the donation drive. They felt that it was necessary to these mothers and children that there is love in the word and hopefully make their day just a bit better with an act of kindness.

“The installation supports various charity organizations throughout the year, yet on holidays, like Valentine’s Day, no one stops to think about women and children who were forced to flee an abusive relationship and taking refuge in a women’s shelter,” said Kristen Roberts, CWF chair.

DLA Distribution San Joaquin regularly provides to the less fortunate in the communities through Toys for Tots, Back to School Backpacks and various food drives.
