Black History Month Spotlight: Arlinda Adderley

By DLA Energy Public Affairs

Editor's note: This year's Black History month theme is “Black Migrations” honoring African Americans in motion. Just like their ancestors, these DLA Energy employees are driving forward, progressing their lives and careers in positive ways.

My name is:
Arlinda Adderley

I am:
DLA Energy Okinawa Supervisory Chemist

Describe your job in a sentence:
I supervise a laboratory team that provides quality surveillance and analytical testing of petroleum products for the Department of Defense and federal agencies across the Okinawa Island to ensure on-specification fuel quality.

How long have you worked at DLA?
I started working at DLA Energy Okinawa in September 2017.

What is your favorite thing about working for DLA?
My favorite thing about working for DLA is the mission to support the Warfighter. In addition to my civilian job, I am an Army Reserve Captain and find it rewarding that I am supporting my military comrades in and out of uniform.

What are your best memories of working here?
The DLA Energy Okinawa team has some amazing family and organizational events that bring not only different divisions together but also merges the American and Asian cultures together to enjoy each other, our families, food and entertainment.

How do you make a difference?
Being responsible! It’s my responsibility as a supervisor to provide leadership and maximize every opportunity to make an impact at work. This applies not only through the mission to support the Warfighter, but the mission to support all of our internal and external customers, peers and command leadership alike.

How are you driving forward and progressing in your life and career in positive ways?
This quote represents where I am today with the hope of endless opportunities for my future with DLA Energy. “It is intrinsically human to want, to create, to invent, to make things beyond what we’ve had before, and there will be no end to this.” Author, Strategist, Ross Dawson.
