NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Hellenic Army Finance Director, Maj. Gen. Athanasios Dimitriadis and Hellenic Army Sustainment Director, Theodoros Zikos, visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, Oct. 13 to meet with DLA Distribution leadership and tour the facility where their material is stored and distributed.
The Hellenic Army has a security cooperation liaison officer located on the New Cumberland installation and is sponsored by the United States Army Security Assistance Command. Dimitriadis and Zikos, both former security assistance liaison officers, were met by DLA Distribution Commander, Navy Rear Adm. Grafton D. Chase, for a walking tour and to discuss the distribution process of their material.
The positive partnership between the Hellenic Army and Air Force and DLA Distribution is long-standing – since 2013. The freight consolidation and onward shipping of Greek foreign military sales material from DDSP to Greece has proven to be a valuable logistical solution for the Hellenic Army – similar to a consolidation and containerization point for U.S. military service customers, and one in which Greece can opt out of at any time.
One hundred and twenty-five 40-ft sea vans and numerous priority shipments worth over $800 million of Hellenic Army material have been shipped to date with DLA recovering all costs through its established rate structure.
