RICHMOND, Va. –
Several Defense Logistics Agency Aviation associates were recognized with DLA Director Navy Vice Adm. Michelle Skubic’s Strategic Goals Award for the 2nd Quarter of Fiscal 2023. The award recognizes the measurable contributions made by teams, or individuals, toward achieving the goals set forth within the lines of effort of the director’s Strategic Plan.
Recipients of the award have met specific goals, a strategy implemented for DLA Aviation to deliver seamless support to the warfighter in a changing world landscape.
Six members from DLA Aviation at Warner Robins Commodities Materiel Management and Planning and Support Divisions were recognized as part of the C-130 Hercules Propeller Barrel Cracking Recovery Materiel Support Team for their response to the grounding of over 100 Marine C-130 Hercules aircraft after a crack was found in a propeller barrel assembly during a routine maintenance inspection.
The team coordinated the availability of the critical stock and managed the movement of the components between DLA Distribution and the maintenance shop.
Their efforts in securing the materials eliminated material delays and reduced the original completion date from June 2024 to October 2023, placing 57% of the C-130H fleet back in service by March 2023.
Alicia Keppley, a customer account specialist lead in DLA Aviation at Cherry Point’s Material Management Division’s Priority Cell was recognized for her extraordinary approach to research and analytic skills that made her the go-to-person to scrutinize and resolve material at Fleet Readiness Center East on Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina.
Keppley was tasked with spearheading a mission targeting the reduction of material delays overall at FRC East, a multi-layered undertaking that would ultimately reconcile 450 unique national stock numbers and unclog 4,800 material requisitions in the pipeline. She also engaged in a quarterly material obligation validation campaign, closing out more than $230k of requisitions that were no longer needed.
