DLA Troop Support leaders recognized for work in diversity

By Mikia Muhammad DLA Troop Support Public Affairs

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support executive director of acquisition and a supervisor in the Construction and Equipment supply chain were recognized during an annual diversity training event in Philadelphia Nov. 23.

William Kenny, who served as a panel member during the event, was received this year’s Partners in Equality Council Achievement Senior Leadership Award for helping the agency achieve progress in EEO and diversity programs, including recruitment, hiring, promotions, awards and career development opportunities.

“DLA Troop Support’s strategic plans and goals continues to focus on creating and sustaining a workforce that values and supports EEO and diversity,” according to the nomination citation. “Command and senior management involvement in the EEO process has resulted in creating a world-class, diverse workforce that continues to provide for our customers at a high level of excellence.”

Suzan Cohen, a supervisory customer relationship specialist in Construction and Equipment, earned the 2015 DLA Award for Achievement in EEO by a supervisor or manager.

“Cohen displays exemplary initiative and leadership in order to improve customer support and the quality of life for all with whom she works,” according to her nomination citation. “Cohen deserves the highest recognition for her personal efforts to successfully support EEO and all it stands for in DLA.”

Along with Kenny and Cohen, nearly 20 supervisors from DLA Troop Support attended the event, hosted by the Federal Executive Board, with the theme “Building a Constituency of Highly Engaged Employees.”

Kenny and Cohen will be formally recognized for their contributions to DLA’s EEO and diversity during the Excellence in Government Awards ceremony in May 2016.
