Susquehanna’s Combs promoted to lieutenant

In front of family, friends and coworkers, DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania’s Navy Lt. j.g. Kyle Combs was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant during a ceremony June 2.

The ceremony was officiated by DLA Distribution Susquehanna commander Army Col Brad J. Eungard, who congratulated the Susquehanna operations officer on his career accomplishments and noted the significance of the day, both for Combs as well as the Navy.  “This is a special day for Kyle and his family. The Navy will continue to push you in this race, but always remember your family. Finish this race as a family.” 

Following a reading of the official order announcing Combs promotion, he was pinned to the rank of lieutenant by his wife Debbie and their children, Annaliese and Kyle Jr.

Combs followed his pinning by reciting the oath of office and thanking those that have aided him in his career, especially his family. 

Originally from Galveston, Texas, Combs enlisted in the Navy in 2003. His first tour was aboard the USS John C. Stennis in San Diego, California, where he deployed to the 2004 RIMPAC and earned his enlisted surface specialist and air warfare designator qualifications. He then attended Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Illinois, followed by a one year Laboratory Technician School back in San Diego. During his 2 year tour as a laboratory technician at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, he was selected for the Seaman to Admiral 21 Program where he earned his commission as a Naval Supply Corps Officer.

After graduating at the top of his class at Naval Supply School in Newport, Rhode Island, Combs joined the USS Taylor in Jacksonville, Florida. While there, he earned his Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer Qualification while deployed to 6th and 4th Fleet areas of responsibility.

Additionally, Combs education includes a Bachelor of Science from San Diego State University in business management, a Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University in health care management, and an Associates in applied sciences from The George Washington University.

Combs personal awards include 3 Good Conduct Medals, 2 Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medals, and various unit and campaign awards.
