During the June Battle Assembly about 65 Defense Logistics Agency Joint Reserve Force members attended the Combined Drill Weekend event June 9-11 at the McNamara Headquarters Complex, Fort Belvoir, Va.

“JRF leaders, senior enlisted leaders and commanding officers from all over the Joint Reserve Force attended the event,” said Rear Adm. Deborah Haven, DLA JRF Commander. “It was to inform them on where DLA is headed, where the reserve force fits in and how we can improve.”

The annual meeting was themed “The Art of The Possible”, had many guest speakers, helpful briefings and breakout sessions.

“It was great to see the relationships with the participants forming,” said Haven. “There’s a genuine camaraderie while learning how to make things better.”

“These leaders have really opened my eyes about the big picture of our mission,” said Capt. Zuri Peterson, Logistics Officer, DLA Distribution Anniston, Ala. “I’ll be taking their advice back to Anniston to implement.”

Attendees were briefed as a group then broken down into smaller, working groups to generate discussions, best practices used and ways to improve.

“The best part of the breakouts sessions was the diversity across services and the PLFAs,” said Peterson. “We each were able to hone in on points that affect the members at the field level.”

Haven said what she saw from the working groups was spectacular and the event was a success.

“It’s all about bringing this information back to your people and getting them engaged and energized,” said Haven. “We have an amazing, talented force who is dedicated to the mission of DLA.”
