Toastmasters club #3500 AGOISSI celebrates 55 years of public speaking!

By Michael McCoy AGOISSI Toastmasters Vice President of Public Relations

Since 1962, AGOISSI (A Group of Individuals Seeking Self Improvement) Toastmasters #3500, has motivated members to improve and enhance their communication and leadership skills in a positive, supportive, and affirming environment! Recently, AGOISSI celebrated their 55-year anniversary at Defense Supply Center Columbus. During their 55th Anniversary celebration, current President Chris Hancock shared his thoughts on the success of the club; “The biggest reason this club has been successful for 55 years is because our membership consists of a goal-oriented group of professionals who come together to inspire one another, and to ‘sharpen each other’s skills’. We get better each time we come together!”

Several former members as well as a majority of current Toastmaster officers attended the AGOISSI 55th Anniversary to help celebrate this significant milestone. AGOISSI Toastmasters former and current members include Engineers, Civil Rights Practitioners, Human Resources Specialists, Command Senior Leaders, and Counselors, as well as those newer to our organization (Interns) and those who are well into retirement.  Don Schulze (3-time Distinguished Toastmaster and member of AGOISSI since 2005), said, "The club has changed as members reached their goals and moved on to different assignments, and new people joined to begin their individual journey. However, the spirit of the club never changed. We welcome new members, and encourage folks to improve and support each other to learn more. "

The unwavering mission of the AGOISSI Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and inspirational learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, with the goal of inspiring self-confidence and personal growth. AGOISSI Toastmasters meets the first, third, and last Wednesday of the month, and is always looking for distinguished guests to join in their meetings; to quote a guest who recently came, and then joined our club later, “This really is an incredible experience”. If your 2017 goals include a desire for personal or professional growth and development, then please consider joining a Toastmasters group such as AGOISSI to obtain the tools needed to boost your personal and professional potential!

Our next meeting is Wednesday at 11:30 AM at DSCC, Bldg 20, Rm B130N – we would love to have you experience us in person! For more information about AGOISSI or the Toastmasters program, please contact the AGOISSI Toastmasters Vice President of Public Relations, Michael McCoy at 614-692-0738.
