Gimcheon looks ahead to large turn in from pre-positioning program

By Timothy Hoyle DLA Disposition Services

Defense Logistics Agency employees at Gimcheon, South Korea, won’t have to wait for Christmas to get lots of packages as 1,400 line items of turn-in from Army Pre-Positioned Stocks will soon arrive at their door.

Edward Forbes and Yong Sik Pak went from the DLA Disposition Services site to Camp Carroll to engage with an inventory control supervisor who oversees the APS items. Forbes said they looked over the items and provided guidance on documentation and turn in instructions. They also used the visit to create a schedule for two trucks per week to deliver the items to Gimcheon.

“Most of these excess items are vehicle repair parts and machinery bolts, screws, and nuts,” Forbes said. “This customer engagement will foster a greater working relationship with our generators and hopefully will lead to more reutilization by U.S. Forces Korea and Defense Department organizations on the peninsula.”

Forbes said the customer was very satisfied with the support, and the large turn in comes at a time right before many units are going to the field.

“Much of these items will be of use to tactical equipment maintenance units,” Forbes said. “We hope there will be lots of RTD for these items.”
