Texarkana distribution center hosts benchmarking visit with Corpus Christi sister site

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Corpus Christi, Texas commander Army Lt. Col. Daniel Bidetti, along with his accountable officer and Stock Readiness team visited Army Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chamberlain, commander of DLA Distribution Red River, Texas and team on Jan. 10 and 11 to share information about their dashboard and stock readiness best practices.

The custom dashboard pulls information directly from Distribution Standard System and provides real-time data updates across every measurable function at the distribution center using an access database with an easy to use web-like front page accessible to the entire workforce.

Dewayne “Zing” Zingarelli, accountable officer, has spent the last 10 years developing, customizing and hosting this type of dashboard capability at Corpus Christi to better manage distribution operations at the center level.

Micki Usrey, DSS systems analyst and Vickie Anderson, Logistics Modernization Program supply systems analyst at Red River, worked with Zingarelli, and in two days developed an initial dashboard operating capability.

Additionally, Red River was able to share a dashboard for LMP developed by their accountable officer, Donald Wallace to implement at Corpus Christi. Both Stock Readiness teams were able to identify and resolve some common issues at each distribution center, specifically those related to Army Aviation materiel stored at both locations.

“We currently pull 255 reports daily to manage our business.  Now, we can immediately access the information we need all day, every day to improve our productivity and efficiency,” said Red River deputy commander Fred Hildrich.

This visit allowed both Corpus Christi and Red River to establish a closer working relationship with plans to continue best practice engagement and discussion on a regular basis across functional areas.
