DLA Aviation-Jacksonville recognized for excellence

By Leon Moore DLA Aviation Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation-Jacksonville employees, along with Fleet Readiness Center Southeast personnel also in Jacksonville, Florida, won the 2017 Naval Air Systems Command Commander Award for Improving Fleet Readiness.

Fleet Readiness Center Southeast Commander Navy Capt. Trent DeMoss nominated FRCSE and DLA Aviation-Jacksonville for the team effort implementing the Joint Logistic Teams.

In his nominating write-up, DeMoss said these JLTs were a new business model and responsible for the successful planning and execution of integrating FRCSE logisticians and DLA supply chain managers into four pressurized Integrated Product Teams: F/A-18 aircraft, trainers, components, manufacturing.

DLA Aviation-Jacksonville Commander Navy Cmdr. Daniel Bessman said this award represents an extraordinary team effort.

“This is a clear reflection of our shoulder-to-shoulder teamwork with our Navy partners,” he said.

The award write-up also stated the combining of FRCSE and DLA industrial engineering technicians yielded the ability to manage and overcome operational supply chain deficiencies.

“It’s humbling just to be nominated for such a prestigious Navy award and I’m glad we were recognized alongside with our Fleet Readiness Center Southeast logistics partners,” Bessman said.
