NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Lifecycle Management Division Representatives of the South Korea Ministry of Defense was presented the DLA Distribution command brief and given a tour of the Eastern Distribution Center in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania July 19.
The purpose of the visit was to provide an overview of operations and allow the delegation to witness DLA’s distribution processes.
During the tour, the group visited the Receiving Operations and Processing where they saw the Consolidation and Containerization Point, Mission Receipts, and Passive RF Portals. At the Storage, Retrieval and Sortation System they learned of Mission Issues, High Rise Storage and Active System, Automated Weight and Offer System and the CCP Sortation and Consolidation.
At Outloading Operations the group was given a brief overview of the Air Line of Communication Pallet Build Operations, and CONUS/OCONUS Surface Staging.
EDC Division Chief, John Northrop, lead the group through the warehouse, stopping at various points and answering their questions.
“This is a great partnership opportunity,” said Northrup. “Visits like these enable us to provide an in-depth view of DLA Distribution operations and processes in an environment where our visitors can see our operations up-close while learning and discussing simultaneously.”
