Norfolk’s Brothers named Employee of the Quarter

DLA Distribution Public Affairs

Margaret Brothers, a management assistant at DLA Distribution Norfolk, Virginia at Williamsburg, has been named Employee of the Quarter for the second quarter of fiscal year 2018.

Brothers ensures all government purchase card transactions are made in accordance with Audit Readiness and local regulations.  With regional GPC cardholder responsibilities as a collateral duty, she completed in excess of 150 purchase actions during the quarter.  All items were researched and properly sourced with quotes and evidentiary documentation.  She processed transactions valued in excess of $65,000 with no delinquencies, and 100 percent accountability.

When one of the full-time GPC holders at Norfolk Naval Station was required to deploy on active duty, Brothers stepped up to fill the gap.  She supported purchase actions for all requests, directly contributing to the regional DLA Distribution Norfolk mission associated with in-house repair and maintenance of facilities and material handling equipment. Her support enabled non-stop mission performance and optimal uptime for MHE used in support of the regional storage and distribution mission.  She also ensured maximum productivity by supporting GPC purchase requests for critical supplies used in accomplishing the storage and distribution mission.

Additionally, Brothers is a strong advocate for the safety and culture of her coworkers.  She personally led three comprehensive training sessions that reinforced safety practices.  She tracks all safety training and ensures that employees are 100 percent compliant.  She volunteered to participate in warehouse safety inspections, and personally identified and eliminated two safety violations.  She engages with her peers, making teamwork a priority.  She holds herself personally accountable to aiding in the positive culture climate.
