ANNISTON, Ala. –
October is "Breast Cancer Awareness" Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.
This year, DLA Distribution Anniston observed Breast Cancer Awareness on Tuesday, October 30th. DDAA employees were encouraged to wear something pink to recognize the campaign of increasing Breast Cancer awareness.
The awareness campaign goal is to raise understanding and increase self-awareness to help reduce all cancer types through education on symptoms and treatment. The hope is that awareness will gain greater knowledge, and lead to earlier detection of breast cancer as well as other cancers which may help to provide a long-term survival rate.
