DFAS Columbus Hosts Unique Holiday Party

By Brenda Minnema DLA Land and Maritime People and Culture

Defense Finance and Accounting Service - Columbus' Funds Requirement Division held a unique holiday party Dec. 19.

The goal of the party was to increase morale and provide information about Franklin County Children’s Service Holiday Wish program as well as volunteer opportunities that are available.

Director of Franklin County Children’s Service's Simba Program Daryle Cobb thanked the DFAS associates for their generosity and commitment to the kids.

"Every dollar, every penny, every toy means something to the kids we serve through our programs,” Cobb shared. "This year we’re on target for serving more than 6,900 kids through our four programs. We’re the only voluntary component housed within a child protective agency in the nation."

Cobb continued by providing detailed information on each of their programs, and promoted the "Make a Difference Night 2019," a volunteer recruitment open house Jan. 31.

Committee member Malcolm Jackson invited Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime's People and Culture Directorate to participate in the holiday party as "Santa and Elf Herself." Dan Hayden, who doubles as Santa, and Brenda Minnema, the Resiliency Program Manager, volunteered to help out in costume.
