Leija said the region offers the workshop annually, allowing its analysts to train and discuss best practices, usually at one of their sites in the West. “We are kind of like the customer service for the workforce,” Leija said. “The workforce supports the warfighter, we support the workforce. We make sure they have everything they need.” She said holding the workshop in Battle Creek this year allowed headquarters-based program managers some face-to-face interaction with the region analysts. Proximity allowed the two groups to walk through processes, explain the reasons behind them and work out any issues that the field may bring up. Leija said it strengthens the relationships between the two staffs.
