COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 15, 2020 —
The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime went to the West Coast, virtually that is, to recruit at the 2020 California Baptist University Business and Accounting Fair Sept. 23. Nine students from various business fields of study and DLA recruiters attended the event using a virtual platform.
Students asked questions about the agency, how to use USAJobs and what career opportunities were available to them. They were also interested in what the culture is like at the agency. Recruiter Dawn Sutton provided answers during the 30-minute kick-off session and during scheduled one on one sessions.
DLA Land and Maritime finished the fiscal year with a strong recruitment initiative, attending 20 career fair events, nine in-person and 11 virtually. The jump in virtual career fairs is attributed to the need to hire during the coronavirus pandemic. Being able to connect with students in a chat-based, virtual environment has been a tremendous asset since in-person events are not currently an option. Capitalizing on the cost effectiveness and benefits, DLA Land and Maritime will continue to recruit in a virtual environment after the health crisis recedes.
