Free fitness program lasts through year’s end

By Jeff Landenberger

The Battle Creek Morale, Welfare and Recreation office is providing free employee access to Wellbeats, an online fitness provider that delivers on-demand classes, challenges, and fitness assessments to its subscribers anytime, anywhere.

Martha Kerns, MWR fitness facility manager at the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center, said Wellbeats offers more than 600 classes appropriate for all - from beginners to more advanced users. The classes include workouts for people with no access to fitness equipment.

“Wellbeats has numerous videos, from one minute to 60 minutes, that I encourage you take advantage of,” said Robin Nichols, president of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 1626. “I have downloaded the app and each hour I turn on a one- to five-minute video to stretch, do deep breathing and de-stress. It is making a difference.”

Kerns said while the program is currently free for DLA employees, they must first receive an access code to use Wellbeats from their local MWR where they are stationed.
