Chief of staff announced as new DLA Logistics Operations deputy director

By DLA Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency Chief of Staff Kristin French has been selected as the deputy director for DLA Logistics Operations, DLA Director Navy Vice Adm. Michelle Skubic said in a March 22 email to senior leaders.

“Ms. French is exceptionally well-suited for this role, with an extensive background in supply chain management and resource management with over 30 years of military and federal service,” Skubic said.

As DLA chief of staff since for the past three years, French oversaw the governance and daily operations in areas ranging from intelligence and public affairs to equal employment opportunity and installation management.

In her new role, French will manage daily logistics support and help ensure the agency has resources to execute logistics planning for contingencies, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, federal and military exercises, and military movements.

“Kristin brings a wealth of experience from across her Army and civilian careers and has been an incredibly valuable part of DLA’s leadership team for the past three years,” DLA Logistics Operations Director Air Force Maj. Gen. Allan Day wrote in response to Skubic’s announcement. “She will certainly bring that awesome background to lead DLA Logistics Operations onward to bigger and better things.”

French was commissioned as an Army lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps after graduating West Point in 1986. Her assignments included key command and staff positions worldwide, to include tours in the Pentagon, Army Materiel Command and a stint at DLA as a colonel in 2008. From 2016 to 2018, she was a principal deputy assistant secretary of defense and also served during that time as the acting assistant secretary of defense for logistics and materiel readiness. She retired as a brigadier general in 2015 after nearly 30 years in the military.
