Distribution’s Ooka presented commander’s coin

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Korea’s deputy director Macy Ooka received two commander’s coins, which were presented to her by Army Brig. Gen. Timothy P. White, U.S. Forces Korea, deputy director, C/J-4, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command and Army Brig. Gen. Steven L. Allen, commander 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command.

In addition to serving her role as the deputy commander, Ooka assumed responsibility as the agency’s lead for the $67 million new distribution warehouse construction project and has spearheaded this initiative in concert with the Multination Division East and the Army Corps of Engineers, Far East District from the project’s inception thru completion in May 2021.

Her initiatives included advocating on behalf of the agency on construction and facilitating necessary and fiscally responsible edits to the original design to ensure facilitated warehouse operations were audit ready, safe and efficient in accordance with current and future modernization efforts. Ooka’s keen eye and attention to detail proved critical during the final phases of construction, inspection and eventual transition to DLA Distribution.

These efforts continue as she is currently supervising contractor efforts to complete deficiencies, install equipment, despite COVID-19 related vendor delays and ensure the facility is fully equipped for the unit to assume operations in fiscal year 2023.
