DLA Distribution Commanding General's Columbus Day Message

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

On October 11th, America will celebrate Columbus Day; a day set aside to commemorate Christopher Columbus’ arrival to the Americas in 1492 and the spirit of exploration.

Many of you will be planning your own explorations as you take advantage of a long weekend. This holiday marks a time for potential seasonal changes in many areas globally. As you enjoy the holiday weekend, please keep safety in mind and plan ahead to minimize the risks of any potential weather or environmental conditions you may face. If your plans include traveling, please don’t drink and drive, always wear your seatbelt, obey the posted speed limits and employ defensive driving techniques.

The last 18 months have been challenging; however, you have remained resilient and committed. I commend you on your dedication to our mission. We’re not out of this pandemic. Please continue to do your part to combat the spread of COVID-19. The best way to serve our customers is to wear your mask, stay home if you are sick and notify your supervisor. Call your physician if you develop a fever, cough or have difficulty breathing. Stay informed and follow the CDC guidelines.

Mr. Knight and I want to thank you for your continued support to our critical mission. Stay safe and enjoy the long weekend.
