Giovanni Gironda, a contract specialist with the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Europe and Africa, was selected as the organization’s Team Member of the Month for December 2021, due to his exemplary customer service, teamwork, professionalism, and dedication to the mission.

Throughout the month, Gironda worked with multiple organization branches and customers to ensure contracts were in order and deliveries were timely for multiple contracts, quickly identifying and resolving issues to prevent gaps in service over the holiday season, Integrated Supplier Team Chief Cathy Torres Vega said.

“[He] is an outstanding representation of DLA Troop Support putting our Warfighters first, always,” Ray Hosey, customer facing division chief, said. “For example, there was a last-minute Fresh Fruit and Vegetable supplemental order in support of a customer in Italy related to the holiday meals. Girondo … quickly communicated with the vendor and worked the entire cycle up to the resolution which ultimately resulted in the success of the delivery.”

Hosey said Girondo’s dedication to work and his attention to detail have been invaluable assets to the organization, especially over the holiday season when Subsistence contracts provide holiday meals to troops overseas.

Girondo has been the focal point for the Local Market Ready to the Subsistence Prime Vendor contracts, a $15 million annual operation. He also serves as a contracting officer for the Medical/Surgical Prime Vendor Program, a first-generation contract program that he had to quickly learn and is currently training new employees in.
