Fitness Center ready to help you keep your healthy New Year’s resolution

By Natalie Skelton, DLA Aviation Public Affairs

Getting fit and staying that way are New Year’s resolutions that just about everyone has made since resolutions were first imagined. If you’re ready to stick to your goal, the Defense Logistics Agency Installation Management Richmond, Virginia’s Fitness Center is ready to help.

The Fitness Center, while still in its temporary location in the Community Center, commonly referred to as “The Barn,” offers a variety of machines for virtually every type of workout and remains a popular destination for installation employees. The permanent center is slated to open in Building 32 sometime this year.

“We are now closing in on the opening of the new fitness center at DLA.,” Supervisory Sports Specialist Jermaine Edwards said.

The center continues to take precautions against the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the health and safety of patrons and staff.

“We have instituted a COVID standard operating procedure that outlines all the safety protocols needs to ensure cleaning, and proper measures are taken to make the fitness center as safe as possible,” Edwards said.

Patrons and staff are required to wear a mask at all times inside the fitness center unless actively exercising, he explained.

Anyone with a federal government-issued ID or non-federal ID holders accompanied by a patron with a federal ID is welcome to use the facility.

The center is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
