Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Commander Army Brig. Gen. Gail Atkins was featured in a local news special July 29 focused on women stationed around Central Ohio currently serving in the Armed Forces.

Atkins was profiled as part of an ongoing series by ABC 6 News’ Stacia Naquin  titled “She Serves.”  The series first debuted as a 30-minute special in December 2021 and featured two DLA Land and Maritime leaders: former Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Adm. Kristen Fabry and Maritime Customer Operations Weapons Systems Readiness Officer Navy Cmdr. Brandolyn Roberts.

“I’ve stayed in for 27 years because what I do matters, I can see and feel that every day,” Atkins said. “We can all serve for something bigger than ourselves.” she added.

Atkins took command of DLA Land and Maritime and the Defense Supply Center Columbus July 22 in a historic ceremony at the Central Ohio installation with DLA Director Navy Vice Adm. Michelle Skubic presiding. It was the first in the installation’s leadership history to feature an all-woman changeover. Atkins is the first Army leader to command the joint post in a decade.
