Meet Taysa Markus, a shining star at DLA Land and Maritime, in the latest episode of the DLA Rap produced by DLA Headquarters. Markus defines resiliency. At the end of the Vietnam War, her family took on hardship, adversity and trauma and persevered. Today Markus is an electronics engineer with Land and Maritime’s Engineering and Technical Support Directorate.

DLA Land and Maritime celebrates Asian American, Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Each May we celebrate and honor the contributions that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have made and the part they have played in the history of this country. The month of May was selected to coincide and commemorate two important milestones in AAPI history: the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants in the United States and contributions of Chinese workers to the building of the transcontinental railroad.

Army Reserve Col. John M. Dreska, a civilian Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime division chief, was promoted to the rank of brigadier general April 11 and assumed command of the Los Angeles-based 311th Expeditionary Sustainment Command.

Defense Supply Center Columbus provides COVID-19 vaccine to workforce

After weeks of coordination, Defense Supply Center Columbus has begun COVID-19 vaccinations for DSCC personnel. First doses of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines were administered March 30. Partnerships between the Defense Logistics Agency, Wright Patterson Air Force Base and Ohio Army National Guard resulted in the activation of the local vaccination site.

Passing of former commander of the Columbus supply center, 82

Former Defense Construction Supply Center commander and retired Army Maj. Gen. John P. Dreska, who led the merger of four separate military service commissary systems into one efficient worldwide agency as the first commander of the Defense Commissary Agency, passed away March 15 after a brief illness. He was 82.
