DOD leader visits Energy

By DLA Energy Public Affairs

The Honorable Robert McMahon, assistant secretary of defense for logistics and materiel readiness, visited Defense Logistics Agency Energy Mar. 15.

McMahon received detailed briefings on alternative fuels, the Fuel Card Program, European fuel infrastructure, inventory management plans, bulk fuel petroleum buys in the global marketplace and the standard price of fuel.

“It was a highly successful visit,” said DLA Energy Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Martin Chapin. “Mr. McMahon was engaged and requested a follow-on meeting to discuss additional topics.”

Mr. McMahon provides oversight of logistics policies, practices, and efficiencies in support of enhanced readiness to the warfighter and manages over $170 billion in Department of Defense logistics operations. It was the second visit to DLA Energy for the assistant secretary. In January, McMahon visited DLA Energy for a robust discussion on energy equities.

McMahon told DLA Energy senior staff that what they do is tremendously important to supporting the nation’s defense capabilities.

“The warfighter could not do it without you,” McMahon said.

McMahon is a retired U.S. Air Force major general and a former commander of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center.
